Firefox 1.5

Is here, go get it.
Many subtle improvements, but also one slightly anoying bug.

Bookmark Flicker.
When I drag my mouse up and down the bookmark list sometimes flickers…

…damn weird.

It only happens intermitantly, and I can’t seem to re-create it.

Just thought, It could be my eyes - I do have a really bad cold ATM. (sniff…)

Say No to SONY

November 24, 2005

I’ve never been a fan of DRM as proposed by the majors, but SONY’s latest shenanigans take the biscuit.

Much has already been said in the blogsphere by many people with better writing skills than myself, so I won’t add to it.

I’ll just leave you with this ’slight’ modification of their logo.

Say No to SONY

Mini-me

November 20, 2005

The observant among my readers may notice a subtle addition to this site.

But for those of you (like me) with failing eye site due to the onset of middle age and too long spent squinting at design layouts or peering of code - here it is.

minime!

Huh? some of you may say, what the heck is that?

Well its my new favicon.

Wha…?

A favicon is the little picture (16×16) you will see at the side of the URL in the address bar on most professional websites, “but this is just a blog!” you say. Yah I know ;-) but without one every time a browser visits my site it generates a ‘file not found’ message in my log files, and I was fed up of seeing it (or not - as the case may be), so I decided to do something about it.

To make one of your own you can use a free on-line tool - there are a few about - I used this one.

Then include this code in the <head> of your pages.

&lt;link rel="icon" href="http://example.com/favicon.ico" />
&lt;link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://example.com/favicon.ico" />

Like most things - I may change it in the future - I’m not to sure I like mini-me staring me in the face every time I check the site, and there are certain narcissistic implications of sticking pictures of yourself all over the interweb, we shall see…

Spies like us…

November 17, 2005

…and they don’t like ID cards.

Dame Stella Rimmington, Ex-Head of MI5 has said they would be useless and non of her (ex) dept. would have been pressing for them.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4444512.stm

Just goes to show that Tony and Co. have been lying to us all along, if it wasn’t the inteligence service who suggested ID cards as a solution to the terrorist crisis (hah!) then who was it? And why?

Visit NO2ID today if you at all concerned about this issue.

Google do it again…

http://www.google.com/analytics/

For the statwhores out there, stick some script in your headers and find out all kinds of crud about the visitors to your site…

…apart from the ones who turn scripting off - those people are invisible. (and slightly weird…)

The end of the new

November 6, 2005

Has traditional media lost the battle tonight? Has the mainstream lost the fight to the amatuer blogger, the part time journalist, the hobby writer?

I think they have, I think that the buck has been passed and the cursor is now open to the man in the street.

I dont care if no-one reads this, thats not the point, the point is is that i can write it, and no-one can stop me, the steam roller is loose and no dictator can put there mouth in the way.

Me 1, Trad Media 0.

So what have I said?

Nothing.

Nothing changes there then…
